Is Oscar De La Hoya very underrated as a boxer because he is very overrated as a persona?

Another Mexican American who is a household name.La Hoya's ability was confirmed for ever when he stopped Mexican legend Julia Cesar Chavez in the third round to win the WBC light welterweight championship in 1996.He only lost 6 fights and there was controversy over 3 of the decisions and his two losses to drug induced Mosley were dubious. His amateur record included an olympic gold and 6 other gold medals.I think that he is a household name in boxing circles around the world, if not in America.
