If the Russian & Chinese Socialists are Left wing, why are German Socialists (Nazis) called Right wing?

The left is almost inadvertently reserved for liberal, socialistic ideas of varying degrees. The exact perception of the left may vary from region to region. The right, on the other hand, are usually anything that is the opposite of the left. Most of the times they are seen as sorta conservatives. I know that in India the left is the socialists and the "right" are the hindu fundamentalists. In the USA i think left is liberal/democrat and right is republican sorta...
