Campaign signs being torn down?

Anyone else having this problem? My buddy's dad in Raleigh, NC had 3 signs taken or destroyed until he rigged the last one up to some electric current. Come about 2am they heard a zapping sound and a guy yell. Next morning, the sign was fine and still is. Not telling the candidate on the sign though. Any similar experiences?
