Vampire diaries tv series, does anyone remember this character? i certainly don't?

He was in season one, ep 10 "The Turning Point", ep 11 "Bloodlines", and ep 12 "Unpleasantville." It's when Elena is involved in a car accident while trying to avoid a man in the middle of the road. He flees when Damon arrives. Later he is killed by Stefan and Damon at the school dance but before dying, he reveals that the way to get into the tomb lies in the Gilbert journal.
