What is a good substitute for egg noodles?

I am in the U.S. and want to make Indian-Chinese style vegetarian chow mein . What kind of noodles should I use? I don't want to use chow mein noodles (in order to avoid the fat), and am afraid that egg noodles might taste too eggy. Any suggestions?
